The Coffee Girl’s Adventures started in Hamburg in October 2024 as a place for the stories that never fitted particularly well into just one category.
Music and culture were always going to be part of it. So were travel, food, photography, cities and, inevitably, coffee. But I never wanted this to become a blog where every trip ends with a list of ten things you absolutely must do, or every café is described as a hidden gem.
I am a Hungarian journalist and editor based in Hamburg, where I have lived since 2022. I began working in journalism in 2010, with most of my professional life centred around music and culture. Over the years I have written interviews, reviews and features, hosted a radio programme, and spent several years working with bands and artists in management and PR.
Later, at Müpa Budapest, I had the chance to work more closely with international artists, conduct interviews and contribute to concert films and other editorial projects. What I enjoyed most then is still what interests me now: not simply what somebody creates, but why they create it, how they got there, and what happens behind the polished version presented to the public.
Photography became part of that work almost naturally. I have photographed concerts, cities, food, people and the occasional building I have probably stopped to look at for far too long. Most of the photographs on this site are my own.
What you’ll find here
The subjects may change from one story to the next.
There will be music and cultural journalism, Hamburg stories, travel, restaurants and cafés, films, photography and conversations with people whose work interests me. There will also be more personal writing from time to time, including subjects that do not fit neatly into travel, culture or lifestyle at all.
That freedom is rather the point.
Some stories begin at a concert. Others begin with a train ticket, a meal, a conversation, a photograph or something happening in my own life that turns out to be worth writing about.
Coffee is mostly what happens while I am figuring out which one it is.
